About This Project
Nick Killian, EIT
nick (at) trafficengineers (dot) com
Nick joined TEI as an Associate after interning for a summer. As a kid, playing video games like SimCity sparked his interest in transportation. During college, a multimodal urban transportation class and a field trip to TEI’s office led him to consider a career in transportation. Diving into books like Walkable Cities: How Downtown Can Save America, One Step at a Time by Jeff Speck convinced him that traffic engineering was the field for him. Nick has developed skills in traffic signal design, pre-engineering of major street improvements, bikeway design, traffic operations studies, and bikeability/walkability studies.
Nick is a lifelong Texan and originally comes from Rockwall, a semi-rural suburb of Dallas. He spent many weekends travelling around the Metroplex and foraying into Dallas. He moved to Houston to attend Rice University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. His professional experience is bolstered by Nick’s active use of all types of transportation to explore the cities he calls home.
Spending his whole life in Texas’ two largest metropolitan areas has given him plenty of ideas to make both cities and the rest of the state better for all!
