TEI led the development of schematic park plans for eight Harris County Precinct 1 parks in coordination with Harris County Engineering staff, Precinct 1 projects, maintenance, and programming staff, and landscape architecture subconsultants. Recommendations for improvements to the parks were made based on site visits, staff interviews, and Precinct 1 goals to provide more biking, walking, and outdoor education opportunities.
Based on the schematic recommendations, TEI designed over six miles of park road restriping to provide bike lanes, over eight miles of new and rehabilitated decomposed granite trails, and over six miles of rehabilitated asphalt trails. The restriping of the loop roadway at Tom Bass Park includes what is expected to be the first application of advisory bike lanes in Texas.
TEI also provided construction phase services during implementation of the trail and striping projects.
